Get in Touch

This is a private reference site, not a Ventura County office. We cannot confirm custody, release a person, post bond, or retrieve an official booking record. Contact the government office that holds the record.

Choose The Record Custodian

Ventura County records are split by custody stage. The Sheriff's Office handles county jail custody and booking materials, the arresting city police department keeps its police report, and the Superior Court holds the filed case and disposition.

Use the route that matches the question:

  • For a county booking sheet, eligible booking photo, or current jail search, start with VCSO Records or inmate information. The home page explains the request steps and limits.
  • For a possible warrant, use the Superior Court criminal inquiry or call 805-289-8900; the Wanted Fugitives page explains the safe check path.
  • For a recent arrest, check current VCSO custody, the arresting police agency, or the official Ventura city arrest report when applicable.
  • For release status or a custody-change alert, call inmate information and use the county's linked victim notification channel when eligible.
  • For a sentenced state prisoner, use the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation CIRIS search.
  • For federal prison custody, use the Bureau of Prisons locator; for immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator.

VCSO publishes a $20 fee for a booking sheet and $20 for a booking photograph, but the photograph is marked for authorized persons only. The office may take up to ten calendar days to determine a request, followed by reasonable production time. Ask about eligibility before sending payment. For immediate danger, call 911 rather than any records line.
